The MoD and the Saucers

Exactly What do the MoD (Ministry of Defence), know about the UFO situation?

According to Nick Pope, who was placed within Secretariat (Air Staff) 2A - the so-called 'UFO Desk' - between the years 1991 and 1994, he claims that he was privy to ALL raw UFO data sent to the MoD by the public and official sources. Whilst I have no doubt that Nick believes this to be the case, I can't help thinking that his statement is somewhat naive.

Although the official line from the Mod regarding UFO sightings is mundane and totally inadequate, they still insist on pushing it out....especially to individuals who just want answers to whatever it was that they saw.

In communications with the MoD, we have received some unbelievable replies.

Here is an example of such a reply, responding to several questions regarding the 'Official' view, and the actions of such 'officials':

'MoD officials have regular discussions with a number of countries on a wide range of topics of mutual defence interest but such discussions have not extended to "UFO/flying saucer" issues or the existence or otherwise extraterrestrial life-forms.'

' Rudloe Manor. Until 1992 the Flying Complaints Flight (FCF), part of the HQ Provost and Security Services (UK) based at RAF Rudloe Manor, was the central coordination point for any "UFO" reports made to RAF stations (from whatever source, i.e. members of the public or service personel). It's function was simply to record details and pass the reports directly to Sec (AS)2a (this office) in the Ministry of Defence. Sec (AS)2a would then examine the reports and decide whether what was seen had defence implications. No action was taken on the reports by staff in the FCF at Rudloe Manor.'

So, what is Mr. Pope on about when he claims that he dealt with raw data? We see above that up until 1992, a year AFTER Nick Pope joined the 'UFO Desk', that the central point was Rudloe Manor. Irrespective of the scale of Rudloe's initial involvement, the fact remains that it was THE central collation point, and NOT Sec (AS)2a. The data had, in fact, already been processed. In effect it looks as though Sec (AS)2a were given second-hand information, and probably never even received some of the reports at all! So, you see, it is not only you and I who get lied to, it's the other employees at the MoD who get lied to as well.

I can only assume that Nick was ignorant of the fact that he was given 'selective' cases to follow up. Indeed, it is interesting to note that in Derek Sheffield's book, 'UFO A Deadly Concealment', about the March 1990 Belgium triangle flap, that Nick Pope was the biggest pain in the ass in Derek's investigations! Interesting, considering that in his book, 'Open Skies, Closed Minds', Nick raves about the incident and doesn't even mention Derek Sheffield and his many letters to him!

In another section of 'Open Skies', Mr. Pope claims that he was the '...Governments sole UFO official...' (Pg. 135). What a load of rubbish! Secretariat Air Staff 2a is manned by at least THREE people during normal office hours.

But hey, don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself.
